Hi all,

First of all just want to say thanks for your work.

It was stated above that there are some errors with IE8 and the line "style 'position: relative; left: -50%; top: -8px; '". In my case the label don't show correctly, only half of it. The workaround given was the use a meta command to force IE8 to behave like IE7 which in my case is not possible. Does anyone else had the same problem and have a different solution? Thanks.

i set the google marker to zIndex: 999.
but nothing changed.

I have a problem (I'm using Drupal's gmap module, but I don't think that's the cause):

Simply put, google.maps.OverlayView doesn't seem to be defined. I get error Uncaught TypeError: Object has no method 'OverlayView' and when I check the contents of the google.maps object, I don't see anything like that listed. Any guesses what could be the problem?

Yes, the bindTo on the text was just an example to get the text to change as the amrker was dragged. You have done the correct thing to set the text directly.

Thanks, everything works great except for showing the marker's info window on label click. Here is the code:

var label = new Label({ map: map.mapView });
label.bindTo('position', marker, 'position');
//label.bindTo('text', marker, 'position');

If I uncomment the bindTo text line then it starts displaying the lat/long in the label instead of my custom text and the label click still doesn't work.

Hi Marc,

I've been using this great code with no problems for a year. However, recently (I think since GMap 3.4) I'm having problems with the binding of label visibility to the associated marker.

No change to my code from the code you posted above on January 25 2010, but now the labels are always visible. It almost seems like this.getVisible() is not correctly returning the visibility of the bound marker.

Do you know of any changes in the API that would cause problems with getVisible()?

The DOM elements of the label are stored as div_ and span_ on the Label class so you should be able to listen to the click events on either of these elements.

Hello Marc,
Is there any way to edit the label.Means by clicking on the marker I wish to edit the label.Also is there any way to have multiple pushpins with markers and ability to place them wherever you want.
And if two location have same lat,lang then the map does not display the previous(first) location but only the latest(second) one..

If you set the zIndex of the label higher than the zIndex of the marker, and have the marker and the label in the same pane then it should work. Check the line "var pane = ..." to select the correct pane to insert the labels into and you may need to set both the markers and the labels zIndex values.

Hi Mark, and thanks first you and than everyone contributed to this awsome post&commenting. I managed to have a gmap with multiple markers and labels with show/hide button with no experience >at all< in javascript.
Just wanted to ask how to show labels & markers again but found the easy solution right after my reply (as usual).
